Do Moran Horses Vomit ?

You may not know it, but horses can’t actually commit. If your Morgan is coughing or making vomiting sounds call your vet right away. Horses cannot vomit so the sound they are making could signal that the horse is choking or struggling to breathe properly. In general, horses have a group of muscles that surround their esophagus where it enters the stomach. The group operates as a one way valve where food can freely pass down the esophagus into the stomach, but cannot pass back up. Instead, something may be blocking your Morgan’s throat keeping food from passing down. Because of the blockage, food may come back up out of mouth or through the nose in the form of mucous like liquid. If your Morgan has any of these symptoms call your vet. Do not give your horse water. Wait for instructions from your veterinarians Wichita, KS.
