Play-Fighting In Degus

Pet owners of degus believe that the interesting creatures are exhibiting aggressive behavior whenever they are chasing each other or biting the hair of other degus. If you have more degus kept together in a sufficiently sized enclosed space, these habits are fairly common.

Degus are usually involved in play fights. These antics are not something to be concerned about because this is normal to them. This is their way of demonstrating when one wants to prove dominance over the other. Nevertheless, you still need to observe and monitor them closely because there are times when they do not get along well with each other and may end up in real fights. If this happens, they will need to be placed in separate enclosures or cages. With serious fights brawling degus often end up with wounds.

If you have concerns about your pet’s behavior, talk to your vet Castle Hills TX.
